Heaton Sports Club has been at the heart of the local community since 1882. Originally founded as Heaton Cricket Club, we have grown into a thriving community sports club where people of all ages can enjoy sport, social activities and a welcoming atmosphere.
For more than 140 years, we’ve been bringing people together through a shared passion for sport, teamwork and community spirit. While cricket remains at the heart of everything we do, today our club offers so much more than the game that started it all.

Our Story
Established in 1882, Heaton Sports Club has played an important role in the Bolton community for generations. Throughout our history, we’ve remained committed to providing opportunities for people to enjoy sport, build friendships and create lasting memories.
As our club has evolved, so has our vision. Rebranding from Heaton Cricket Club to Heaton Sports Club reflects our ambition to become a true community hub, offering a wide range of sporting, social and recreational opportunities while continuing to develop cricket at every level.
Today we’re proud to be recognised not only for our success on the field but also for the welcoming, inclusive environment we’ve created for members, families and visitors alike.
More Than Just Cricket
Cricket remains the cornerstone of our club, with three senior teams competing in the Greater Manchester Cricket League alongside a thriving junior section that develops young players from the age of five through to adulthood.
Our junior pathway includes ECB All Stars Cricket, competitive junior teams and our growing girls’ cricket programme, providing opportunities for children of all abilities to learn, develop and enjoy the game in a safe, supportive environment.
Alongside cricket, Heaton Sports Club is also home to:
- Rounders teams
- Darts teams
- A busy members’ social club
- Community events throughout the year
- Function room hire for private and community events
We’re continually looking for new ways to expand our sporting and community activities as our club continues to grow.
A Club for the Whole Community

Our clubhouse is a popular meeting place throughout the year, hosting regular quiz nights, live sport, entertainment, fundraising events and celebrations that bring our community together.

In recognition of our welcoming environment, we were delighted to be named joint runner-up in the 2025 Bolton CAMRA Club of the Year Awards.
Developing Future Generations
Investing in young people is one of the club’s greatest priorities.
Our qualified coaches and dedicated volunteers work hard to create a positive environment where children can develop confidence, teamwork, respect and sporting ability while enjoying every aspect of club life.
