Missing Person Policy

The club is fully committed to ensure the safety of adults and children and in the event of a missing person they can be found in an effective way.

In the event of a missing person: 

• Team manager is to ensure that other children in their care are looked after appropriately whilst they organise a search for the child concerned.
• Inform the next of kin/parent/guardian.
• The person may contact the next of kin/parent/guardian and it is necessary that they keep the club updated.
• Organise all available responsible people by areas to be searched.
• Search areas where the person has gone missing – grounds, changing rooms, toilets, club premises, etc.
• Request all those searching to report back to a nominated person at a specific time and place.
• A nominated person is to remain at a specified place, take note including detailed description of the person, including clothing, when and where last seen.
• If this search is unsuccessful, the Police are to be informed – no later than 20 minutes after the disappearance.
• The club will follow Police guidance thereafter.
• If the person is located, ensure that all relevant parties involved are informed.

All missing incidents to be reported at the earliest opportunity to the Safeguarding Officer or Deputy – details of whom are on the club noticeboard, who in turn informs the ECB Child Protection Officer.

All next of kin/parents/guardian must be made aware of this Policy.

This policy is fully supported by the Club Committee who are responsible for the implementation of the policy.

The club will review this policy periodically.
